Technical Superintendent
About the job
We are looking for a Technical Superintendent who takes care of our unique fleet across the five continents. You will be responsible for monitoring technical performance of assigned vessels, prepare dockings, write specifications, initiate and supervise all necessary maintenance and inspections. As our Technical Superintendent, you will work in line with KOTUG technical standards and provide feedback for further improvements, prepare, manage and maintain work in- and on time, budget and quality. With your workplace at the head quarters in Rotterdam, you will need to travel overseas.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Monitors safety performance of subcontracted work on ships and or yards.
- Prepare dockings, give input in Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and Planned Maintenance (PM) budget for country.
- Monitor and report on technical budget and financial performance.
- Preparation of full detailed specifications for all subcontracted work.
- Contribution to delivery and supervision of subcontracted work, including authorization of purchase orders, control invoices and managing overruns.
- Execute regular inspection of vessel status.
- Administrate and file technical documentation.
- Monitor, steer and report on technical Performance and work in close cooperation with Captains and Chief Engineers.
- Inform and motivate local Port Engineers
- Give feedback on performance and development goals of chief engineers and captains to Director Operations and Corporate Technical Manager.
- Provision of second line technical support and advise to Chief Engineers.
- Monitor Class and Flag state requirements.
- Prepare, facilitate, supervise and administrate required surveys and certificates.
- Release ships after certification.
- Build proper insurance case on behalf of ship owner (e.g. invite Class Survey, independent surveyor, collect data, etc.).
- Define in cooperation with procurement requested goods and services.
- Preparation and submission of purchase orders.
- Develop and maintain optimal relationships with relevant suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure structured and efficient warehousing.
- Ensure efficient logistics from and to fleet and between ports.
- Ensure economic and efficient stock / spare part control.
- Mentor and coach junior technical staff.
- Create awareness for KOTUG technical standard.
- Signalize deviations, give feedback to technical staff and management.
- Support and take all necessary actions in case of emergencies.

An engineer with relevant work experience, working from the Rotterdam office and willing to travel abroad.

- Ability to provide leadership to chief engineers, Captains and subcontractors; takes accountability.
